چکیده

Objective: In this study the purpose is to evaluate the effectiveness of daily bemiparin sodium injection in preventing early pregnancy loss and in achieving live births in pregnant patients, not ahead of 6th week, who are diagnosed with habitual abortion in a case-controlled randomized prospective study. Study Design: In this prospective study, 120 pregnant patients not ahead of 6th week and aged between 21 36 and diagnosed with habitual abortion between April 2011 and April 2012 in our clinic were included. Habitual abortion diagnosis criteria was based on patient history of three or more miscarriages before the 20th week and a genetically documented homozygote or heterozygote mutation of the methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase gene. Results: The rate and the number of live births in the study group was 60 (93.75%) and statistically higher than the control group 32 (57.14%). The difference was found to be statistically significant (p = 0.001). The rate and the number of abortions in the control group was 24 (42.85%) and statistically higher than the study group 4 (6.25%). The difference was found to be statistically significant (p = 0.001). Conclusion: In order to maintain a healthy pregnancy an effective uteroplacental circulation is a must and any defects in haemostasis mechanisms may have an adverse influence. A few non-randomized studies comparing pregnancy results of low dose salycilic acid and low molecular weight heparin usage in patients also show that prophylaxis might be beneficial.

Factor V Leiden, MTHFR C677T and Prothrombin Gene Mutation G20210A in Iranian Patients with Venous Thrombosis

Background: Factor V Leiden, Prothrombin gene (G20210A) and MTHFR (C677T) polymorphism are the main biomarkers for evaluation of tendency for venous thromboembolism. We aimed to investigate the frequency of mutations in factor V Leiden, Prothrombin G20210A and MTHFR C677T and identify the genetic status for these mutations in patients with venous thrombosis. Methods: This study was carried out...

Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase C677T and A1298C Polymorphism in Iranian Women With Idiopathic Recurrent Pregnancy Losses

BACKGROUND Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is a serious problem for pregnancy. There is evidence that vascular complications play a principal role in RPL. Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is a key enzyme in folate metabolism. Polymorphisms (C677T, A1298C) of MTHFR gene are associated with decreased MTHFR activity. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to determine the association bet...

Common Mutations of the Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase (MTHFR) Gene in Non-Syndromic Cleft Lips and Palates Children in North-West of Iran

Introduction: Cleft lips and cleft palates are common congenital abnormalities in children. Various chromosomal loci have been suggested to be responsible the development of these abnormalities. The present study was carried out to investigate the association between the suspected genes (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase [MTHFR] A1298C and C677T) that might contribute into the etiology of the...

Association between Thrombophilic Genes Polymorphisms and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Susceptibility in the Iranian Population: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Studies have indicated that thrombophilic genes polymorphisms are associated with recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) in the Iranian population. We aimed to evaluate the precise association between thrombophilic genes polymorphisms (MTHFR C677T, MTHFR A1298C, Prothrombin G20210A, FVL G1691A, and PAI-1 4G/5G) and RPL risk in the Iranian population. The 5, 10 methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase C677T mutation and risk of fetal loss: a case series and review of the literature

BACKGROUND The true relationship between methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase C677T homozygosity and risk of recurrent spontaneous abortion is unknown, and it is unclear if women with these mutations should be anticoagulated during pregnancy. OBJECTIVES We report a series of 8 patients with this issue and review the current literature. METHODS 8 patients (3 of whom were actively pregnant) we...
